Literature Text

i live my life by a manuscript
written on the back of a napkin in a
sleazy motel after too many drinks
at the bar

i'm a regular paradigm for failure
with a belly full of rum and a
fist full of rage with a temper
ready to blow like the top of Saint Helen's

and even Mother Theresa herself couldn't
console the demons within me that
wish to see daylight
and maybe i don't want them
contained

i've tasted love and
i've tasted hate and well
i'm starting to think the
latter is sweeter because
love is quite bitter

i get up in the morning and say
today i'm going to start trouble
maybe it's this chip on my shoulder
or the burden of a deceased spouse
either way chief, you're in for a
long day if you cross paths with me

so stick around, you ain't seen nothin yet.
What's left of me sits burning in the bottom of this ashtray.

It really all comes down to my love for misfortune, a weak stomach, and a mouthful of bad intentions.

Watch your mouth, I'm the son of a gun.
